My story

Amelia is a kitty who has come out the other side of some type fo trauma that scared her - to intensely bonding to her family. She has two favorite people and one favorite dog. In addition to hanging out, playing or cuddling near us, she also comes running and gives us a very loud welcome, rubs and head butts. She has an adorable quirky personality with lots of nuance for a family who wants a very devoted kitty, has other kitties who want a playmate or has a dog who wants a kitty friend or plans to get a puppy. She is active and playful, has this adorable chirpy meow, if you talk to her, she will answer. Loves to play with other pets best and ropes and strings or chubby fluffy mice also. She entertains herself nicely with toys when no other kitties are around. She is also quite intelligent - actually sits and curiously watches things on the laptop and also has figured out how to go from one surface to another to get all the way on top of the kitchen cabinets - it's an order of operations challenge. Instagram videos:https://www.instagram.com/p/CDbQmjnlkBp/https://www.instagram.com/p/CDbPEMhlHw4/ Amelia adores dogs and cuddles and will play wrestle or chase. She is fantastic with other kitties and especially plays beautifully with kittens. She would love her own kitten or puppy to grow up with. Backstory: Amelia had a scary start. She was trapped at a feral cat colony with her two brother, around 3 months of age, completely terrified of humans - at first she would actually cry in fear if I tried to touch her. After working with her gently for months, she discovered the nirvana of being petted and cuddled, and now is constantly with a family member. She hangs out when you are working, comes when called, sleeps in bed and is learning to give a high five with treats. Seeing her fear go away and joy replace it is worth the extra work, she will have an adjustment time to a new family but is totally ready for her forever family. She would actually be great as an only kitty if you are not gone too many hours, would be your Velcro companion. She is also perfect if you want a dog/cat bonded pair, she LOVES friendly dogs. Funny that she will spook from a human who moves too fast but is fine with a hyper bouncing dog friend.

More about this rescue

Pawsitive Karma Rescue is the voice in Central Texas for animals that truly have no where else to turn. Our focus is on “special needs” animals that are deemed “unadoptable” by the city shelter and other groups. PKR is driven by the belief in live outcomes for all animals including those of unpopular breeds or colors, those with behavioral issues or physical ailments, and feral as well as under-socialized animals. PKR seeks to redefine society’s outlook on feral cats in particular. We hope for people to see them as animals that never received the chance to socialize with humans but still have endearing and useful qualities. Our barn placement cats find only happy outdoor homes waiting for them and their adopters are pleased to see their animals thriving. We focus on providing a safety net for those animals that find themselves in difficult situations such as ferals that need to be relocated, feral mothers with kittens, cats with litterbox issues, and animals with behavioral problems. We also take on the challenges of socializing kittens up to six months old and finding proper and responsible placement for cats with a variety of socialization levels. We favor a natural approach to treating and maintaining our animal’s health and prefer simple medical treatments and nutrient-dense food to those including harsh chemicals and other questionable ingredients. PKR will not adopt out any unhealthy or unaltered animals; our kitties and dogs go to their forever homes healthy.
