My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bandit!
He is a wonderful dog! He needs a few days to warm up to a new environment and start coming out of his shell but once he gets comfortable and trusts, he's a fantastic boy. Bandit is very much a people lover and loyal companion who will wake you up with morning nuzzles. He does routine morning happy wiggles and waits patiently for breakfast. He picks out toys to do tail surgery on and loves those squeakers. He is wonderful on leash, a wonderful car rider, and loves being part of whatever is going on. Commands he knows (discovered so far) are sit, down, shake. He is house-trained and can chill or go for a run at anytime. Bandit likes playing with other dogs, loves walks, going on adventures, and can jump over ditches like a graceful gazelle. He does not like thunder or noises at the thunder frequency but loves his thunder vest and being in a homemade thunder cave.

Bandit is looking for an active family or fur sibling to be his forever. He is such a great boy and would be a great addition to his perfect family, bringing endless entertainment and love. Apply through Northshore Humane Society to meet this perfect gentlemen!

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
