My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Nana! I may be a granny, but my age only adds to my perfect personality! With a heart of gold, I'm the queen of this castle. My spunky attitude keeps things lively and my love for food keeps me motivated. After all, a queen's gotta eat! However, there's nothing I enjoy more than a good butt rub and head scratch. It's the simple pleasures in life! I may be open to a furry friend who shares my chill vibes and knows how to mind their own business. We aren't sure how I do around cats but staff thinks I may do well. If you're searching for a loyal companion who's equal parts sass and sweetness, look no further. I am your gal!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
