My story

Ella is a special girl. If you are looking for a dog who will adore you forever and be your constant companion, look no further! She would love to snuggle on the couch or even in your bed. Some of her special needs are probably due to living in a kennel environment and not having enough to do with her time. Maybe you can help her with that?? She is on a special, high quality diet and has a propensity to eat things she shouldn't. She loves toys so much that if left alone with them, she may eat them! She is on some meds for a minor incontinence issue, not uncommon in older female dogs. The medication works well for her, and she will come with a good supply of it and her favorite food. Ella really needs a fenced in yard or an absolute commitment to tons of on-leash walks. We believe she would be best as an only pet, though with proper introductions and management, might be OK with an older, mellow, male dog. Absolutely no cats or other small animals, and because of the toy issue, no small children. She loves going for walks AND would make a great couch potato! Ella can be particular about what humans she likes (some people initially scare her), so meetings will need to be pre-arranged for best chance of success. Please, come meet her and let her personality make a case for itself!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees vary, according to species, size, age and other issues. Discounts apply in some cases. We consider these to be good values after you take into consideration how much veterinary care goes into each animal before placement. Every dog, cat and rabbit is spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Our dogs are also heartworm tested if appropriate and started on heartworm preventative, examined for fleas & treated with a monthly preventative, vaccinated for Bordatella, rabies (unless too young), and DHLP, dewormed, and microchipped. All animals come with an adoption packet which includes their health record. We do require that you fill out an application, and wait patiently for at least 24 hours while our committee goes over it. In almost all cases, you'll be required to come visit the animal. We will do out of town adoptions, but you must comply with the above conditions. In some cases, applications may be pre-approved via email, fax or mail, so that you may pick up your new pet in one visit.

More about this shelter

We are working hard to end pet overpopulation by setting an example for our community!
