My story

Hello everybody, my name is Guapo. Yes, my presence is exactly how my name is spelt!

I am one handsome 2-year-old black cat with a special condition. I am paralyzed from the legs down. My legs actually both go to one side, so I am still able to scoot around and run as fast as other animals in this shelter. My favorite thing to run after is the laser pointer. While I was in the grooming room at the cat shelter, I would get let out while staff cleaned my room and every chance, I got to play was amazing and nothing less of exciting. I also really enjoy treats as a reward for being the good boy that I am. In return for a treat, I do allow bells rubs and people to pick me up. If you are not giving me enough attention or any at all, I will "yell" at you when walking past so you know to stop by and say hello!

I have been at MaxFund since 2020 and what an experience it has been. My partner, Kelly is my other half. We are a bonded pair of cats that need to find a loving home who will support us in any way possible. Do you know how hard it is to adopt out a bonded pair, let alone a pair of paralyzed cats? Hard, and to say the least we have been trying our best to overcome any and every obstacle to achieve the goal of finding a home:) I was eligible for foster when I first came here because I knew and so did staff that it would be hard to find a forever home for paralyzed cats.

If you are interested in saving not only one life, but two please call the cat shelter at 72-266-6081 and ask for Kelly and Guapo. We are located over at Meow Manor with our catio space and enough toys to feel happiness.

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only. The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
