My story

Remember me? I'm Mika, a five-year-old gray tabby and white girl with no tail. My name means beautiful, and I am beautiful, so why am I still here after one year? The couple I lived with split up, and I was really the man's cat. However, he left me behind with his wife, who is not really a "cat person." She brought me to Paws and Claws. I'm one of those cats who avoids people and gets grumpy and hissy at times out of fear. There's a very nice volunteer who has been spending time with me. She's helping me to learn to trust again. We "touch paws", and she says hello to me when she comes to the shelter; I don't hiss. I could learn to trust you, too, I think. I would like a quiet home with someone who will give me space and time to be myself and to adapt to my new world. Mika also means good, and I know I am good. I hope someone who sees this will know it too.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal. All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs. After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal. For full list of our adoption policies, please see: http://www.pawsandclaws.org/policies-faq-policies.php
