My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Pete. He is an almost 2-year-old active, playful, happy, and curious sable and white sheltie who is affectionate and who will serenade you with music from his squeaky toys. He appears to be housetrained and walks on a leash but needs practice. Pete would do best in a home without other dogs or with a young active female dog to play with. He is a special needs pup. He has a genetic condition Dermatomyositis (DMS) which is not curable but is treatable with an inexpensive daily medication. This condition varies in severity depending on the individual dog. Best case scenario is minor, barely noticeable facial lesions and worst case is very noticeable facial lesions and muscle weakness. Pete has moderate symptoms with visible facial lesions but no indication of any muscle weakness. He runs and plays like any sheltie his age and is thankfully unaware of his condition. He has a pleasant happy expression, and we think he is beautiful despite the scars on his face. For more information on Dermatomyositis see the following links. https://www.americanshetlandsheepdogassociation.org/dermatomyositis/ Dermatomyositis studies website (This web site hasn’t been updated for several years but the pictures and information is relevant) Pete will be placed with a sheltie savvy adopter who can monitor his condition and work with his or her vet if necessary.
