My story

Meet Oscar!!!

Oscar is about 1 year old and believed to be a lab retriever mutt mix, possibly Shiba Inu,and likely several other hunting breeds as well.Oscar was one of three in his litter that overcame parvovirus.Oscar is that loyal friend everyone seems to struggle to find,he is very easy-tempered,sweet-natured,shy at first but outgoing, and easily opens up to new humans. He is house and crate trained, does amazing with dogs,as well as cats, and enjoys children too.Oscar enjoys outdoor activities, playgroups, hikes trails, swimming, and learning new tricks.Oscar is fully trained with basic obedience and some, muzzle training, some scent work, and walks exceptionally on leash with the perfect heel. Oscar is very food and praise-motivated so he is always up for learning new commands and tricks.Oscar also has a soft spot which makes him a great snuggle cuddle Netflix buddy.Oscar will come with a list of commands he has been practicing with his foster mom.

Oscar is up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

Training is an ongoing process that has to be worked on daily.New issues and opportunities show up daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded.Continued training is required.

Out Of State adopters are welcome at the adopters expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greets are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.

Additional adoption info

Completed applications MUST be Printed & Mailed via United States Postal Service. We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. Taking time out of their busy day to best help provide proper daily maintenance care for every dog and/or cat in our care until the best match with a happy forever adopter is made. Normally our adoption application processing review may take 2 to 3 weeks give or take. If you are seeking same-day adoptions then AHS may not be the best fit for your needs. We do not agree with impulse adoption. Adopting any pet is a decision that should not be taken lightly nor made impulsively.

We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.
