My story

Hi! My name is Bellamy but my foster mom likes to call me Bella. I was at the animal shelter for 21 days before my foster mom saved me. I was pretty dirty so my foster mom tried to give me a bath but I didn't want to get into the bathtub so I finally won and she gave up, but not for long! She took me to the Beauties Boarding facility so staff could give me a much needed bath. I must admit that I did feel better afterwards. My foster mom's okay. She lets me snuggle beside her when we're sitting on the couch and she even lets me sit in her lap sometimes. She's always giving me kisses. I REALLY like humans but I just don't care for other dogs right now! My foster mom has a friend who has 3 dogs and she wanted me to meet them but that didn't go well at all. Now my foster mom is really sad because she says that she can't keep me if I can't get along with the other dogs. I know how to sit and lay down and I'm working on "wait" but that one's really hard because I'm always anxious to eat or get out of the car. I can't go out on walks because there might be some other dogs out walking but I love it that she has a big back yard that's fenced in so I can do zoomies out there. I jumped up and knocked a squirrel off the fence yesterday. She sure was glad that she had a 6 foot high fence. She found out that I don't like to be kenneled after she left me in the kennel for 15 minutes, and I met her at the door when she came back. I'm okay to just leave out when she has to go somewhere and at nighttime. If I am kenneled, it will need to be a really secure one. I don't want to leave my foster mom but it looks like I'm going to have to. There's surely another foster mom or forever mom out there that likes to snuggle and doesn't have any other dogs in her house. Just let me know. I'm full of love to give you!

Additional adoption info

For us, the adoption process begins the day we take a dog or cat into our rescue. It’s a huge responsibility, taking in a lost soul and promising them a happy life, but we are pretty proud of the forever families we’ve helped create because our adoption process is so thorough. The first step in adopting is to fill out the adoption application. This helps our volunteers understand what kind of new friend you are looking for, and allows us to identify any issues that would prevent us being able to place certain animals in certain homes. For example, breed restrictions in your town or apartment complex, etc… The Beauties will conduct a vet check to make sure the pets you currently have are all up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. We will also contact you to set up a home visit, where we can make sure that the home you have meets the needs of the animal you are interested in. Example: fence height for dogs who are jumpers, stairs for dogs who have mobility challenges, etc… We try to troubleshoot any potential problem areas and offer friendly advise so that our ultimate goal, a forever happy match, can be achieved. After the application process is complete, the real fun begins! It’s time for Meet-N-Greets! We have a professional dog trainer on our board of directors, and we can schedule her assistance in helping you with dog-to-dog introductions while you are searching for your new family member. It’s amazing how often the existing family pet has a little something to say about who they want to spend time with and having a pro help out makes the potential for a successful intro go through the woof! We mean, roof! Once you have decided on the dog or cat of your dreams, all that is left to do is sign the adoption contract and pay the fee, which includes all vaccinations, microchip and spay/neuter.
