Luna is a 5 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix She weighs about 50 pounds and is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. She has grown up with kids and is gentle with all ages and loves to give kisses. She loves squeaky toys and snuggles and playing in the backyard to keep an eye on the squirrels!
She is highly trainable and super eager to please. Luna was born deaf but was taught hand commands from age 5 months. She responds well to visual cues and is eager to learn more. Deaf dogs are just like regular dogs, you simply communicate with them a little differently! If Luna sounds like the perfect addition to your family but you are worried about her being deaf don't be! We will include sessions with our trainer for any interested family to help make the transition super easy!
Luna either needs to be an only dog (as being deaf other dogs can startle her) or potentially with a calm male dog.
We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention.
All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

We do not have a shelter, as all of our rescue animals are living with foster families in private homes. You can meet one of our animals by appointment once your adoption application had been processed and initially approved (final approval occurs right before the adoption is complete). Also, EARS has Meet and Greet Days at various local venues in the Dallas area. We will post the dates and times of the Meet and Greet Days on this website. Meet and Greet Days are an opportunity for you to meet some of our animals. Unfortunately, not all of our animals make it to every Meet and Greet Day so please contact us at adoptions@earstexas.orgto check if your four-legged friend of choice will be available to meet you. (We do not do any onsite adoptions.)

Further, EARS is committed to finding homes for unwanted animals that would otherwise perish in shelters. EARS keeps all of its animals in homes with volunteer foster families where the animals are loved and treated like a part of the family until the right permanent home is found.
