My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or in the North / Central Texas area.

NAME: George
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: About 4 years
WEIGHT: About 5.5 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Great with children (10 years and older)

Introducing George. This adorable, laid back guy loves everything and everyone. We love his sweet personality, and we think you will too.

George has been through a tough situation over the last 45 days. His human dad had not been heard from for several days. The family asked that the local law enforcement check on him and sadly, they found that he had passed away. Animal control seized the eleven Chihuahuas living in the home, moved them to the local animal shelter which then reached out to Chihuahua Rescue & Transport (CRT) for help. CRT agreed to take all 11 Chihuahuas. Four of them stayed with the SE region (in North Carolina). Our dedicated volunteers then transported the other 7 from North Carolina to Dallas. George was a part of the group that came to Dallas to find his new forever home. We are so happy we said “yes” – he has been a total delight.

George is a super easy-going dog. He likes other small dogs and fits right into the pack. At first he was a shy little guy who just liked to hang around the other dogs. But recently he is starting to initiate play more. It make our hearts happy to see his personality beginning to develop. To date, we have not really seen him playing with toys.

George absolutely loves his humans. When you get home, he will be right there, greeting you with a big smile and wagging tail. George enjoys meeting new people who come to visit. He likes to be in the same room with his family. George is a champion cuddler, and will spend hours on your lap asking for belly rubs and snuggling with you. He is the sweetest, gentlest little guy.

Our vet estimates that George is about 4 years old. He weighs a perfect 5.5 pounds and is fully grown. George has a stunning black and tan long coat. George fits into any situation quickly. We think he would enjoy another small dog as a buddy, but we also think he would do fine as an only dog as long as his family was around alot and gave him lots of love. He would be great for a work at home family. He is quiet and would not disturb your conference calls! George needs a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). He would do well in a home with older, mature children (10 and older).

George learns quickly. He is working on his potty trained and he is making progress. To continue this progress his new family will need to keep him on a consistant routine. George walks gently on a leash and he enjoys “exploring” during his daily walks. He hopes his new family will enjoy walking with him. He is friendly to everyone he meets along the way. George loves sleeping in bed with his humans. He loves to lay on his back when he sleeps and will sleep soundly through the night.

This guy is so sweet and we are excited to help him find his forever home.

George is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

George is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family, could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $324.75 adoption donation required ($300 adoption donation and $24.75 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
