My story

  • Age: adult, approximately 7 years old as of 8/15/22
  • Temperament: gentle, calm, sensitive, sweet, tends to be shy, playful
  • Recommended adopter skill level: intermediate-advanced

Arthur is a former outdoor cat who came to us from behind a bar in Brooklyn. He is a sensitive, quiet fellow who needs time, love, and a quiet place to come out of his shell. He's great company and very sweet. He allows pats and even enjoys being stroked. Because he startles easily, he'd benefit from a quiet home with an experienced cat person who wants the company of a gentleman with good boundaries.

When left to his own devices he hangs out on the sofa and naps. He enjoys a good perch. While he can be skittish when approached, he does come out for pats & love at mealtime and even lets his foster mom kiss him.

Arthur LOVES the wand toy! It's his favorite thing to play with. He loves all games (& treats), but the wand toy seems to elicit an entirely different side of his adorable purrsonality!

Arthur is a good & gentle boy. He might blossom in a stable, quiet, and predictable home where he can feel safe and be cared for by a devoted companion who's respectful of his special, sensitive personality.

If you think you have a perfect scenario for Arthur, please reach out! Complete an adoption application on our website or email info [at] for more information about him.

Why adoption is a great option

Arthur (I'm in foster care!), a Brooklyn American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Brooklyn, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Brooklyn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brooklyn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brooklyn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brooklyn paves the way for another one to be saved.
