My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

May 2021: Boogie Woogie Dougal Boy is a big playful baby looking for an active family with teenagers. He really wants to be a good family dog, but we believe he is the product of a backyard breeder or a puppy mill situation which means he was separated from his mom many many weeks before she could impart all the Important bits of information about how to be a proper puppy. Consequently we are working on his mouth skills: he takes treats from fingertips very gently but is still learning that live fingers can be licked but not gnawed; language skills: Starting to catch on to commands such as stop, stay, leave it, off-limits, quiet-no barking; lap etiquette: Wants to be a lapdog but it’s just so wonderfully overstimulating to be held in a lap & thrashing about lands him back on the floor! You can see from the photos he’s getting close to mastering the art of being a lapboy; being with other dogs: Doogy is working on getting along with his current pack members and not barking at them; car rides: This is been the most difficult thing for him to learn-he pants like a steam engine in the car, jumping around & barking at moving cars unless confined to a covered crate—then he’s a perfect passenger. Progress is occurring in this area as he only barks now on the way to the freeway & not as much when on the freeway. He also has learned to sit in a parking lot or leash with a window down watching cars whizzing along or creeping along the freeway or climbing a ramp to get to the freeway without barking at them, so there is hope.
