My story

Ken IS AVAILALBE (updated 12-03-2022).

To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Ken, please visit our website below

At 3 years old, Ken was surrendered to a high-kill shelter by his own owner. We don't know what led to this decision, but Ken wasn't doing well at the shelter and became 'rescue only.' We were able to save him and quickly fell in love with the big lug. It doesn't appear that anyone had ever worked with Ken before and, while he's an enthusiastic young boy, he had no manners and couldn't walk nicely on a leash. This gorgeous boy got much better, was walked by numerous volunteers, and does well on a leash, knows his basic commands, and is super food and toy motivated.Ken just completed a dog training boot camp and did fantastic! He learning a lot and is ready to join his forever home. When you adopt Ken, you will also receive an in-home training session with his current trainer, so that you and Ken are both set up for success! Ken is a dominant personality and, while he has done well with dogs who ignore him, he would currently do best as the only dog in the home (although he's fine with leashed dogs and doing better all of the time).

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.December 3, 2022, 6:17 am

More about this rescue

Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Your tax deductible donations go to support these very deserving animals. Coastal was formed to serve communities in the counties of San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future.

We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all volunteer, no-kill, non profit organization.

Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of over population of animals through education, training, spaying and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families.
