Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Spider is a handsome 6-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on February 17, 2021.
Spider has a black short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute face with large golden eyes, rather small ears, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. He appears to have a quiet, low-key personality and was content to 'chill out' when we stopped by to take his Petfinder/Facebook/Adoptapet photos the day he arrived.
Spider was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on February 17, 2021. He was also combo tested and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV. Spider is a big boy who weighs 13 lbs.
Spider is being listed as a 'Special Needs Kitty' since he is borderline diabetic (which is being managed/controlled through dietary restrictions). Spider is doing well on Blue Buffalo brand foods at the present time and is not required to be given insulin.
Spider is currently enjoying one of our large cat tower in the lobby of our shelter where he is accepting applications for a new family. We’ve noted that Spider does NOT get along with dogs and gets very agitated when dogs walk by his tower.
Spider is front-paw declawed, so he would be required to be an exclusive indoor-only kitty. Spider has already been neutered.
Spider is available for adoption and also for rescue.
Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
UPDATE: Spider went home with a fantastic foster mother on December 13, 2021 where he will get the medical attention that he requires and will also monitor/administer his insulin injections.
Spider tipped the scales at 15 lbs that day.
UPDATE 12/24/2021: Spider has been on insulin injections (twice a day) since early December 2021. He now requires blood glucose testing by a veterinarian every two weeks for possible insulin dosage adjustment.
