My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Janet may not be a runway model but we think she is beautiful anyway. This little lady found herself at an open admission shelter when her previous guardians could no longer care for her and then made her way to us.

Janet has a grade 4 luxating patella on her back left leg, which basically means she has a bum knee. It does stick out at kind of a funny angle, and makes her walk a little silly, but she is used to it and she does manage to get around really well. She also came to us with a mammary tumor which was removed when she was spayed and she has sine totally recovered. We have also been working with her on her weight as she was quite overweight when she came to us which isn't good for her overall health but especially her knee and she has been doing great slimming down. Her new family will have to continue assisting her on her weight loss journey and she is on some medications in order to make sure her leg isn't painful.

This cutie pie has been spending time with one of our awesome foster parents and this is what she had to say about Janet:

"She is a super sweet lap dog. She is quiet except when I come home and let her out of her crate or when she is really happy. She gets very excited and runs zoomies around to welcome me home. She LOVES sleep and even falls asleep during car rides which she also LOVES. She likes babies, and seems comfortable being handled by everyone she encounters. She has met dogs of all sizes and overall seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs. She does keep her distance from big dogs though in order to not get trampled. She does enjoy walks, and for short distances at her own pace she really likes walking on her own. I do use a stroller with her, that she also enjoys, so we don't push her too far.

She can be a door dasher and while she doesn't go far she will have to be kept safe in her new home. She does like to greet other dogs and people but is very good about listening when called.

She does readily go into her crate but she would really enjoy sleeping in bed with her family if they wanted too. She would need steps or a very low bed to keep her safe though. She is overall a fabulous gal and anyone who adopts her will be lucky to have her"

Janet is overall just a doll of a gal and she can't wait until she gets to meet her new forever family.

She is around 10 years old as of 06/10/21. She may technically be a senior gal but we think she has plenty of life left!

If you would like to meet this special dog, please email dogs@lunashouse.org to set up an appointment. Please be patient to hear from us as we are all volunteers and may not be able to respond immediately.

Our volunteers make sure just the right home is chosen for me so they require a home visit to make sure there are no safety issues that could hurt me. You must live within a 50 mile radius of our location in order to be considered.

The adoption fee is $250 and includes vaccines, flea prevention treatment, neuter/spay, and micro chipping. Like us on Facebook!!
