BLACKJACK is approx 10 -12 months of age and weighs about 8 lbs. We believe he is a terrier (possibly Yorkie) and Chihuahua mix, but without DNA testing we cannot be sure.
BLACKJACK was dumped with another dog (possibly his Mom) out in the farm fields. They had been spotted by passerby’s for a couple of weeks until a good Sam finally picked them up. We were notified of the situation and took both dogs into our rescue.
BLACKJACK was noticeably limping and non weight bearing on his right hind leg. We took him to the vet and xrays revealed his femur was broken in half and displaced. We then scheduled him with our orthopedic surgeon who had to reconstruct the lower part of his femur.
BLACKJACK handled the surgery like a champ and has recovered nicely. He is ready to run, jump and go crazy since he has been under strict orders to stay quiet/calm during his 6 week recovery.... and being a puppy that’s a hard thing to do!!
BLACKJACK is still all puppy, and true to the terrier breed! He is a happy, friendly boy with lots of energy and just wants everyone to play with him! He gets excited and shows off his rather large bark for such a little guy!!
Shared wall homes will not be suitable for his voice!
BLACKJACK really needs another young, friendly and playful doggie companion that I’d under 20 lbs in his new home. He has lots of energy so having another dog will help him to expend that energy and not get bored.
BLACKJACK is still a puppy and can be mischievous like a puppy... so if you like your shoes, don’t leave them out were he can get them, and make sure to have lots of chew toys and other fun toys for him to keep busy with!
He is doing well with potty training and as long as he gets outside every couple of hours he is good... but if you don’t get him out, he will have accidents.
BLACKJACK is crate trained and does sleep quietly through the night.
He has not had any exposure to cats so no cats in his new home.
Due to his size and puppy mouthy-ness he is best suited for children 7 yrs and up.
BLACKJACK’S best suited home is an active family with another young energetic small dog in the home and who has time and patience to continue with training. Terrier experience is definitely a plus!!
BLACKJACK’S adoption fee is $400
and includes Health examination, current vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea and deworming treatment, along with surgical repair of his broken femur.
