My story

Hi my name is Lil Boy. I am about 4 years old and I came to Almost Home when my owner passed away and the family was unable to keep me. I am a sweet boy but can be shy so a quiet home would be best for me. I have been ok around other cats. I am up to date on vaccinations and I tested negative for FIV and FeLV. I am microchipped and will be neutered soon. Do you have room in your home for me?

We require a deposit on all un-altered animals and we will return your deposit to you once your animal has been altered. It is Iowa Law that all pets adopted from shelters are to be spayed/neutered.

All animals adopted from the Humane Society of North Central Iowa will receive a free health exam from a number of veterinarians in the area. The free health exam must be done within one week of adoption. In the case that your veterinarian feels that the pet you adopted is not in good health, you may return the animal for a full refund within the first 7 days.

Please note, we do not adopt animals that are intended to be outside pets only. Our animals are to be adopted as household companions and kept as such, as stated in our adoption contract.

We reserve the right to refuse adoptions.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Iowa is a non-profit, no-kill shelter serving North Central Iowa. We stand for humane treatment of animals and spaying and neutering pets.

We rely heavily on volunteers to help us with the daily cleaning, socialization, and walking the dogs. We also need volunteers to help with our fundraising events. If you would like to help stop in and fill out a volunteer application.

Due to time contraints we are not able to keep all adoptable pets online at all times. It's a lot of work, and the most important thing is to take care of the animal's physical needs!! If you want to see more of our adoptable pets come visit them in person. You can learn more about us, visit our website
