My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mocha is an easy going and good-natured dog who came to us approximately 2 months ago. She was found with 4 young pups on the edge of the desert. Early on she was very timid, Mocha is still wary of men at first, she is not aggressive but will cower if uncertain. However, she has blossomed into a beautiful dog. She has brought us nothing but pleasure and is adorable and totally trustworthy. She is an absolute joy and will bring pleasure and happiness to her permanent home. She’s fine with children, she loves being cuddled by our neigbours young daughter. .
She doesn’t chase cats and loves to go on adventures. She is house trained but would rather go to the toilet in the garden than whilst out walking. She always has food available and tends to eat last thing at night before going to bed. She is not a greedy dog and we are using dry mix she loves fresh chicken and also chicken-stock. She loves her snacks and treats and will tell you when she wants them in her own unmistakable way. She becomes very active around walking time or when we return home. We generally walk her at 5:00 In the morning and again at 6:30 in the evening as the weather is too hot for her. During the day she just tends to sleep and is happy to be left on her own. For treats she loves pigs ears and buffalo skin and to be honest she has been totally spoilt by us.
When walking she likes a long lead so she is able to explore and she is very good on the lead – she will sometimes just sit down if she wants to explore or she feels threatened. We have taken her to the sea and she does go in the water but because of her thick fur it takes her a long time to dry out. She loves being groomed and we do this 2-3 times a week, she especially likes her belly scratched and moves her legs to let you do it. She has a bed in our bedroom and will let you know if she needs to go out – she normally shakes herself down and will talk to you if she wants to go out. Prior to bed-time she takes herself out to the toilet and then hurtles upstairs.
We have a couple of commands that we use with her now which she does respond to. “bed” is one of them, we get her to stay on her bed whilst we are eating. She is very good and we make a point of giving her small titbits of our lunch or dinner as a treat. She has never begged at the table and knows that as soon as we have finished eating she gets something from our dinner as a treat. Usually a piece of whatever meat we are eating.
“Sit ’she will do this and then give you one of her paws most of the time especially if you have fresh chicken for her. Sometimes now she will just come up to you and give you her paw because she wants a treat.
“Stay” she is quite good at this but could do with more training.
She’s not really a playful dog but does have toys – we think that this will come as she is still adjusting to house dog life. She has never tried to chew things that she shouldn’t and can be left in the house alone we normally leave a couple of chews to keep her occupied.
Mocha has started talking and we have really encouraged her, it usually happens at walk times or when we come home.

She is fine about being left on her own, she does not howl and has never wrecked any furniture. The longest we have left her is 7 hrs and she did not make a mess at all. We just let her out as soon as we get in.
We have kept her off the furniture but I am sure she will be more than happy to jump up if you allow. She often just lays on her bed close to us.

She is toilet trained and will hold on for ages rather than going inside, you will not need to put any toilet mats down for her. As long as she is let out in the morning and evening, she will be fine. She has now started to go to the toilet on her walks too, so make sure you have bag.
She is very good when it comes to having a bath. She normally just stands in the bath while you shower her off and she loves to be towel dried. She is still a little nervous though.
She is very good in the car and is happy to sit in the back and likes to look through the front window (probably so she can enjoy the AC.

Sometimes out in the garden she will roll around and when she is on her back we play with her front paws. You will see that when you stop she will move her paws wanting you to carry on.
