My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everybody. My name is Sunshine, or Sunny for short. I'm about 8 months old and I've already had a rough start to life. But I think I am ready for my forever family.

When I was only about 4 months old some very nice people from Oklahoma Alliance for Animals came to save me and over 75 of my brothers and sisters from our home of neglect and abuse. At that time I had only had painful experiences with humans so I was terrified. I didn't like to be touched at all and would cower away from anyone who reached toward me.

My foster mama saw a video of me, and it broke her heart to see how scared I was at such a young age, so she knew she had to help me.

I was only known as #23 until she named me Sunshine. She said she wanted me to have a little light in my life after such a bleak beginning.

I've been with my foster mama for over 4 months now and I learned that humans aren't quite as scary as I thought. I still don't like to be touched, held or cuddled. But I do know one thing... I LOVE treats! Foster mama used to have to toss me treats and leave the room, but now that I know she won't hit or kick me, I willingly take them from her hand. Sometimes I even beg and she gives me a treat right away! I think I can get used to that.

My absolute favorite thing about my foster home is the other dogs. They are so nice to me and sometimes I can convince them to run around in the yard with me. I'm not sure what I would do without them to show me what's safe. Did I mention that my second favorite thing to do is run zoomies in the yard? I have lots of energy and sometimes I just need to let it out.

Foster mama says that even though I have a long way to go, I have made a lot of progress and am ready to start looking for my forever family.

I will definitely need a family that understands I am a work in progress. It will take me a long time to warm up, but I am worth it. I will also need a fenced in yard because I still think leashes are super scary and I'd rather have room to run and run.

A canine companion is an ABSOLUTE MUST for me. I need a sibling who will show me that it's ok to trust the humans in my life. Even though foster mama is great and all, I really only truly trust my fur siblings. I'm also full of energy and need someone who can keep up with me.

Kids under the age of 12 are not recommended for my furever family since I am so shy.

I currently weigh 25 pounds and I come fully utd on shots, spayed and microchipped. My adoption fee is $250.
