My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"CUSSLER" was rescued on May 13, 2005 in the Houma area after a tip of a dog in dire need. “Cussler” was severely emaciated at the time of rescue, 41.2 pounds, about 20 to 25 pounds under weight and abused! He was immediately brought to Dr Melinda Knight where he was treated for various parasites, fleas and dehydration. She estimated that he had less and one week left before he would have died. We don't know what he had been eating (obviously not much of anything) but when they tried to take a stool sample from him he was completely empty. His “foster mom” found a long piece of rope hanging from him as he was trying to have a bowel movement a few days after rescue. After removing the long rope everything returned to normal. We feel the rope was causing a blockage and Cussler never had enough food in him to push it out until he was rescued. He is Heartworm positive and undergoing treatment for his intestinal parasites and weight gain. He had been suffering from pressure and chain sores, both of which are being treated and healing up. He is intact and will be neutered once he is strong enough to undergo surgery and HW treatments will follow. This 18 to 24 month old male fawn is just a love bug, he is very affectionate and loves his family time. He gets along with the other dogs in the foster home, although his exposure is being limited until he is neutered. He has shown some curiosity in the cats but no aggression. He is very good around children as well, just wanting love and someone to love! "Cuss" is an awesome little guy and recovering from his hard life with flying colors. He is the typical velcro Doberman and happily follows his foster family around just waiting for his much deserved attention. Cussler was named after the author "Clive Cussler"
