Mel is a bunny-brown tabby with dainty white feet and one beautiful yellow eye that is full of warmth. She had to have an eye removed because of an injury sustained when she was living with a feral colony. Mel is a bit of a late bloomer but has been in the main building lately and is beginning to understand what it mean to enjoy the love of people and gentle petting. She is deciding she really likes these ""pets."" She is still considered shy but is warm and gentle. She would love to meet a kind, patient human friend with warm places to sleep and sunlight shining through the windows.
If you would to adopt Mel, please call our office at (919) 542-6815 to arrange a visit in person, and be sure to complete our online application too (www.goathouserefuge.org/adoption-application/). Mel is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time. The home environment needs to be peaceful and tranquil, with no children under the age of 16. In addition to unrestricted access to a warm, safe home environment, Mel also requires safe restricted access to the outdoors - for example, a screened porch or safe outdoor area with cat-proof fencing - so she cannot wander away from the safety and care of the home.
