My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Huxley is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met, he truly just wants to sit with you at all times and get pats, the definition of a velcro dog. He is extremely loyal, kind, and obedient – anyone would be lucky to have him. Huxley is being re-homed due to changing life circumstances that have made me not an ideal owner for him, I wish this weren’t true, but I want him to live his best life.

Some important notes about Huxley:
- Not good with other animals
- Untested with small kids
- Absolute love bug with humans
- Large dog (90lbs)
- Crate and potty trained

Huxley’s ideal owner:
- Likes big dogs
- Has no other animals
- Has no kids under 3 feet tall
- Has a backyard
- Works from home most of the week or can visit during the day

Huxley came from a rescue in the US and is now 4years old, he came to us heartworm positive, but has been on the slow kill protocol since being rescued 2 years ago. He should be heartworm free very soon, has never, nor currently, shows any physical symptoms, as well as comes with a 6 month supply of the medication.

Having come from a rescue, and before that being in an abusive home, Huxley was at first very timid and fearful. Thankfully Huxley is all smiles now and is no longer very anxious, although if dogs bark or get excited around him, he does get fearful aggression, albeit much better than before. If you avoid other dogs on walks, or if other dogs don’t lunge and bark at him, he is a breeze, it is only when other dogs come within 6 feet and bark that he gets worked up. Although a large dog, he doesn’t routinely pull on his leash and is very manageable (squirrels/bunnies can sometimes be an exception).

Huxley has very good bite inhibition, he has been attacked by a smaller dog before, picked it up in his mouth, yet did no damage to the dog at all. He truly is just scared for his life and doesn’t know what to do, thus, while on walks, the only precaution that needs to be taken, is that 6 feet distance be kept from other dogs, and that you keep his attention on you, not the other dog (treats work great as he is VERY food motivated). Other than this, Huxley is a really easy dog, he needs 2 bathroom breaks a day, one being a 20-30 minute walk, and is crate and potty trained. He can stay in his crate for up to 7 hours at the most, but if so may need a slightly longer walk that day and more attention. I have personally heard Huxley bark less than 10 times in all of two years, he is a quiet dog, likes to just sleep all day by your feet, and is always looking for a pat or belly rub (he does a funny heavy breathing/purring sound when you pet him).

Huxley is well trained, and knows the following commands extremely well:
- Sit
- Stay
- Give Paw
- Other Paw
- Down
- Roll-Over
- Up
- Crate
- Ballerina (extend your arm straight out and he’ll place his front paws on it to “stand”)

Huxley comes with:
- Pet-Intel professional training (Up to adoption fee amount)
- 2 XXL Crates
- 2 Beds
- A Heavy Duty Muzzle
- Harness
- Bully Billows Collar and Leash (Extra Strong)
- Dish and Bowl
- Multiple other leashes and collars
- Furminator comb (removes excess fur)
- Many Blankets and Toys
