Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Carl and I used to live in a regular home with a family. I was their whole world from 8 weeks old until I was about 4 years old. Then my mom & dad started having 2 legged kids and I started resource guarding the toys and dropped food. But everything was going well until they found out they were having another 2 legged kid. They decided that with a 2 & 4 year old and one on the way I as too much to handle. So they dropped me off at the local Humane Society. Now I am in a rescue and looking for my next new forever family.
A little about me...I am a Goldendoodle and will be 8 years old in August. I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. I have not been socialized or taken for many walks in my life so my leash walking needs some work. Did I mention that I am 89 pounds and can pull pretty hard at times, especially if I see something interesting? I love to sniff and explore but often have selective hearing when there are interesting things to see and smell. I am independent and stubborn at times (must be the poodle part) but I love attention and to be petted, even though I am not an over-cuddly kind of guy.
I love to be petted but I'm not an over-cuddly kind of guy. I promise not to get on your furniture but I do love a nice soft human bed to sleep in at times. Puzzle bowls are great to eat from, because I have a tendency to eat really fast. Did I mention that I love a good car ride?
What I really need in a home is a physical fenced yard. I would love some teenagers to run and play with but no young children, because I might knock them over in my excitement. No cats because I have never lived with a cat.
I hope that someone will give me the opportunity to be a member of a real family again!
A little more about Carl....he takes treats gently unless he is excited and his attention is elsewhere. He does not mind being alone in the house 6-7 hours. He can be reactive to dogs he meets on leash but at the kennel he walks past barking dogs without acknowledging them. He can be very vocal and bark at strangers but then will settle down.
He can be protective of high value items - the resource guarding that his former family mentioned. Carl is a smart golden aware of his surroundings who can be described as a big goof ball who reminds you of an old man with lots of energy. He will follow you around the house all the time.
Carl is looking for a home with a fenced in yard and someone who will give him the attention he deserves. He will do very well in a home without any dogs, young children or cats.
