My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lover is a very sweet boy who loves attention. He loves hanging out with his sister Amy and following her and his humans around.  Lover also loves being outside, watching and chasing squirrels and rabbits.

Lover’s ideal adopter: Lover’s forever home would have his sister Amy and an owner that lived a pretty quiet lifestyle.  Ideally no kids or stairs.   Someone who is home a lot and would like a nice dog that wants a lot of love.  Lover is very dependent on Amy.

Likes: Being outside, walks, attention, food

Age:  14

Breed: Jack Russel / Poodle Mix

Weight:  14lbs

Kid-friendly: Unknown

Dogs:  Lover is a bit skittish around other dogs.  He is unsure especially when there is a lot of commotion.  He is deaf which might be contributing.

Cats: Unknown.  Lover does great with his foster’s guinea pig, hamster, and finch.

Crate trained: Lover is not crated much at his foster home.  His foster did try crating at first, and Lover would whine/cry, but eventually settle down. Lover’s previous owner did not crate her.

Potty trained: Mostly.  Lover can hold it for at least 4 hours.  He does wear doggy panties overnight, but he can hold it 50% of the time.  Lover will pace when he needs to go out.

Health concerns: Lover is deaf and will sometimes get goop in his eyes.  Overall a very healthy boy!

Adoption fee: $375 for both Amy and Lover

Our dogs receive heartworm and flea/tick prevention each month. Dogs that have stage 4 dental disease will receive a dental procedure in rescue. We aspirate all lumps and remove those that our veterinary partners suggest removing.  Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable).  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies, distemper, and bordetella), HW test, blood panel, a microchip, and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.
