This is MAMA! She is under 2-3 years old and 38 lbs. SHE IS IN NYC AND READY FOR A MEET & GREET!
Mama is such a great dog! She’s medium energy (meaning, she likes exercise but isn’t bouncing off the wall), very sweet and loves attention. She plays very well with all the dogs. While she loves other dogs, she would also be great in a home without another pup, as long as she is properly socialized with dog buddies so she could still have playtime!
We have had her since 2019 because she and her friend Sam were sanctuary favorites (yes, we were hoarding these two!) but we had decided to put them both up for adoption to give them a better life. Sam was adopted late July and now it’s Mama’s turn to find her forever home!
Mama’s story is a crazy and sad one. Our founder rescued Mama herself in a harrowing chase by the municipality’s dog catcher who was out to get Mama, her mates and her puppies. This dog catcher wanted to round them up and bring them to what we call “the slaughterhouse”, a place where dogs go to be euthanized (not because of anything the dog did but because they don’t want them on the street anymore). Our founder LITERALLY grabbed Mama’s puppies, mama ran behind, followed by the dog catcher who was out looking for them. Mama and her puppies’ lives were saved in the nick of time but her mates and one lost puppy was not :(
We want to give Mama the life she deserves in a home with people who love her!

PLEASE READ: We ask that you please make sure if interested in a puppy or high energy breed that you are ready for this time consuming/daily endeavor and have patience as this is a long term commitment (could be 15+ years).
Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. We recommend puppies receive 5 half hour walks (bare minimum) daily. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog.
In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Please also note that any dog that is 'house trained' will still need patience in a new home, new people and new schedule. Please be ready to house train ANY dog you adopt ! Thank you for understanding
