My story

This is Redd.

This handsome guy is ready for a home of his own and he needs a special human to love and support him despite his special needs.

Redd came to us as a wee kitten who was found on the side of a dirt road nearly dead. He was very sick with an upper respiratory virus at just 4 weeks old.

We nursed him back to health, as he was a little fighter. He did have bouts where he would continue to have congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes. Many times kittens have to grow to allow their body and immune system to fight off the virus... so we gave him time.

His kitty cold was persistent and recently we took him to a specialist to have a CT scan done. We confirmed that Redd has the calicivirus and therefore will carry it for life. It was also discovered that his nasal cavity suffered damage over time from the virus. The best we can do for Redd is to manage his condition. He receives daily medication to help keep his symptoms at bay.

His new owner would need to commit to providing medication for him and any other needs that may come up. The virus is not deadly... it just will be a chronic thing for Redd to deal with.

**Redd would be best as the only cat or with cats who are calici cats as well** He gets along with dogs.

He is about 1 ½ old, loves to keep his human company... is a good window watcher, and has a great elevator butt when scratched!

**All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at for information on our adoption process.**September 24, 2022, 6:01 pm
