My story

Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix
Age: approx 7 years old
Male, neutered
20 lbs

Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations)

Llew was picked up by animal control off the streets of Hayward. He was unable to use his back legs. Otherwise he seemed in fairly good shape. He must not have been on the streets for long. It is suspected that he had a back problem (IVDD) that was never treated. He has responded well to anti-inflammatory and pain medications. He has gained some use of his back legs (he can stand and walk a few steps). He has been in physical therapy for a few months. He is excellent at dragging his back legs around and getting anywhere he wants. He will probably never gain full use of his back legs.

For all he has been through, he has an excellent demeanor - very friendly, very loving. He can come off as a little “pushy” to some dogs, but overall he gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home.

He needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs is willing to assist with his vet costs, if needed. He may benefit from regular physical therapy visits. Care needs to be taken so that he doesn’t develop sores on his back legs for dragging (he doesn’t like using a “drag bag” and he has had some success with a cart)

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We specialize in "hard to place dogs" due to their breed, age, minor behavioral or medical conditions. We strive to keep our fees reasonable ($125), and we have sponsorship funds to help with fees, if needed. After the application is approved, the prospective adopter must take the dog on a trial-basis "sleepover" for a few days, before finalizing the adoption. We require landlord approval if the applicant is renting their living space. We only do adoptions in San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding regions. We DO NOT adopt to families with children under the age of 13.

More about this rescue

We specialize in finding homes for dogs where “imperfection” is tolerated in exchange for a lifetime of love and devotion. Our foster dogs have been discarded by the people they once trusted, only to find themselves in a shelter with no other options. We want them to have a second chance to receive the love and care they deserve.
