My story

Looks like: Chihuahua Female, 14 years old, 10 pounds Pina is a petite chihuahua dumpling who enjoys long snoozes on the couch interspersed by merry frolics in the yard. She will waddle along on easy walks, but frequently gets distracted and will steer off-course. Midway she may prefer to ride in a dog carrier sling and take in all the smells along the way. Pina is ready to make new friends, shed a few pounds, and really make the best of her senior years. This lady likes to meet new people, although she was deprived of socialization opportunities for most of her life. At her new home, she would prefer adults and mellow teenagers only. She gets intimidated by too much activity around her. Although she loves gentle cuddles and scratches most of the day, at some point in the evening, she decides that it is time for her beauty rest. She will let you know when that time has come with a little yap and snap. Pina's right eye was recently removed because it was sunken in and non-functioning. Without depth perception, she is sometimes a tad hesitant when encountering obstacles or curbs, or she gets surprised when hands reach for her from unexpected directions. She takes daily medication for her heart murmur, but otherwise she is in great shape for her age! For her forever home, Pina is hoping for a calm and quiet household where she can take some time to settle in, check out the best spots for naptime, and find the warmest lap to climb into. Pina came to us from San Jose Animal Care Center, where she landed when her family moved and could not take her with them.February 3, 2023, 5:17 am
