My story

Meet Ace! If there's a perfect dog, Ace might be it. One look at that goofy face and you know Ace loves life and has known a good one. This boy is extremely smart and willing to learn so training or retraining should be fairly easy with patience. He loves to sleep on beds, play fetch, tug, and to chew. He knows which items are for him and leaves other things alone. He loves snuggles and has a big bark. Ace gets along with his foster's two dogs, but seems he would also be comfortable being an only dog. He's not shown any food aggression when he's fed. He loves the rambunctious 11-year old boy in his foster home, and has no issues playing gently. He LOVES (We're not kidding!) chasing reflections and the robotic vacuum. He leaves a regular vacuum alone so go figure that one out. He is a complete gentleman during his bath and helps out by lifting his paws at the right time. He's fully potty trained with no accidents. Ace is 5-6 years young, a Staffordshire mix & weighs about 50-pounds.

Additional adoption info

We have a Adoption Application located on our website at www.DogsbyDebin.com under the Applications tab. Each potential adopter is required to fill out. After the Adoption Application is reviewed, and requirements are verified, Dogs by Debin will contact adopter, and if eligible, appointment will be made to come in and meet our dogs. We try and list our adoption fees when posting our dogs. All of our adoption fees include: Age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, tested for heart worm (if positive, we treat them), and a free training session with our local trainer. If the adoption is a puppy, the training session will be at 4mths or older.

More about this shelter

We were developed based on the fact that there is a gap in the shelter system. The shelters that are open-intake, although they are doing the best they can, they can only do so much. Those shelters are also very stressful to the dogs & this is where we step in. You can consider our place a half-way home for dogs if you will. We allow the dogs to be dogs again, offering them behavioral modification, land to run on, playgroups & necessary vet care. With this being said, our adoption rate is sometimes slowed due to the fact the dog(s) may not be ready for adoption right away. We set our dogs up for success & match them with the right family. Our final goal is to have the adoptions last the dog's lifetime. Our #1 goal though is to have a dog stay in their current home, should it be safe. We offer counseling & resources to do our best to make this happen. When it's not possible, they may safely surrender the dog to us, provided we have space.
