My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 4 months as of 7/15

Size: 33 lbs as of 7/15

Estimated breed: Bearded collie/Portuguese Water Dog mix

Spencer was surrendered to one of our local shelter partners after his owners reported he was very sick and they could not afford his veterinary care. The shelter quickly tested him and diagnosed him with parvovirus, an extremely deadly disease for unvaccinated dogs and puppies. Overnight, Spencer took a turn for the worse and staff found him the next morning with bloody vomit and diarrhea in his kennel. They sent out one final plea for Spencer - if a rescue couldn't step up to take him under their care, they would have no choice but to humanely euthanize him. We looked at Spencer and saw a young puppy with so much more life to live and love to give. We knew he at least deserved a chance, so that is what we gave him. We immediately took him to our emergency vet where he received around the clock care for a few days. Fortunately, he beat his diagnosis and was able to finally go to a loving foster home to wait for his forever home!

As of 7/15, Spencer is around 4 months old and 33 lbs. He is SO EXCITED to finally be out of isolation and wants to be with his people whenever he can. He happily follows his foster dad around the yard and loves cozying up to his doggie foster brother too. Spencer is a high-energy puppy who will need a forever home willing to give him plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep him happy and healthy! He is great with dogs and people; we haven't seen him around cats or kids but due to his young age he would most likely do fine with both following a proper introduction. Like all puppies, he is looking for a forever home with the time, patience, and love to train him into the very best boy he can be.
