My story

Frodo is seeking his Samwise Gamgee!

Like his namesake, our Frodo has been on a long journey. He was found wandering loose in September 2021 and besides a few overnights with a staff member, has remained in the shelter since then.

Frodo was a very good houseguest on those overnights, wanting to spend every moment possible with his human friends.

His report card:
- Great in the car
- Settled easily and was able to entertain himself with toys
- Listened well to directions
- Fantastic cuddler
- Loves to learn (especially with treats)

Frodo wouldn`t mind a tolerant and playful dog friend - we`ll be happy to set up a meet and greet to make sure it`s a good fit.

The most important thing to know about Frodo is that he is LOYAL. He absolutely loves his human friends and wants to do everything he can to please them. He is going to be a fantastic companion for someone.

Additional adoption info

Our standard Adoption fee for healthy, younger pets is $75. Pets over 7 years old have no adoption fee. Adoption includes a microchip and collar & tags, all the vaccinations a pet is old enough to receive, and spay or neuter surgery.
Adopters must be at least 18 yrs old with a current photo ID. Pets already in the home should have a current rabies vaccination and we may need to confirm permission for adoption from the owner of the property where an adopter lives.

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
