My story

Our gentle boy Ghost will need a forever foster looking for a sweet senior. He is deaf and has some special care needs. Because he needs to be near our vet and has frequent check ups we will be looking for a foster in the Rockaway/Howard Beach area of NYC.

We brought Ghost home after being hospitalized since his emergency rescue (8/25) last week from NYACC. We have enjoyed every minute with him since then getting to know him and letting him know he is safe. It’s clear he hasn’t always known the gentle touch of loving hands. I think he shut down for the most part a long time ago. Probably as a self defense mechanism for all the suffering he was forced to endure. The deep scars on his face and neck, coupled with the long-term neglect evident in his body, I am sure only scratches the surface of what he has lived through. One look into his eyes and you just know.

We were so excited to see him walk out to greet us when we picked him up from our vet. Thanks to the adaquen injections, Chinese herbs, and other medicines Ghost’s legs no longer collapse out from under him and he is able to walk on his own mostly with minimal assistance. Ghost is enjoying deep sleeps in comfy beds, snuggling with his favorite blanket, and is the happy recipient of many butt scratches, which are his absolute favorite.

Why adoption is a great option

Ghost (Deaf), a Rockaway Park Pit Bull Terrier/Cane Corso dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier/Cane Corso for sale in Rockaway Park, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier/Cane Corso dog from a breeder in Rockaway Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rockaway Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rockaway Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier/Cane Corso breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier/Cane Corso rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rockaway Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
