My story

Meet Remy Pasqual! He is believed to be a 3 to 4-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua mix. He is a very proud pup and always so eager to please. Remy is very ADHD, can be a bit of a goofball at times, and can come across as neurotic with his silly personality but he is not. Remy enjoys his training sessions and learning new things. He enjoys showing off his tricks and obedience training every chance he gets with every human he meets. Remy has been with us for over a year plus now and his rehabilitation has been successful. He was very reactive and would attack everyone including dogs, cats, people when they come near him or try to interact with him. This was the reason why he was surrendered. We put a lot of training in him. We pretty much switch his mindset and encourage him to use his energy to learn by having fun. Remy is great with dogs, cats, and adores every human now. He is extremely smart and appreciates his daily walks, training sessions are always fun, and learning new tricks is his. Remy is also a sweetheart and loves to snuggle and be loved. He is obsessed with his super mutt harness and cape. It's his comfort wear. Remy is crate and house train but does seem to have a sensitive bladder and tinkles when things are new due to nerves and excitement. So a belly band is recommended at first. He normally settles down easily and adjusts quickly. Remy would appreciate an active home with another playful companion dog in the home. His humans must be active outgoing and enjoy continued training and be willing to nurture Remy's love for learning. Remy would be incredible at agility, a running friend, cycling is perpetually fun! He loves to be active and loves learning even more so.

He is nothing like when he arrived. He has become a very happy social butterfly. Remy is a very affectionate pup and more so of a velcro dog but on the active side. Remy loves to play, he's a superstar with dogs of all sizes, awesome with cats, and even more so with humans. Remy has a cute funny prankster personality. He enjoys speaking which comes across as intimidating but it's nothing more than him communicating. He smiles and shows off his pearly whites. He does this when asked or if he wants someone's attention. Remy loves to snuggle and cuddle too. He will sit and watch tv with his person as long as he's being loved. He enjoys his daily long walks, playing with his toys too. He enjoys all humans, big or small. He loves dogs, too. He is just a very fun happy joyful positive-natured pup. Remy would do good with older children. A fenced-in yard, with another playful friendly dog in the home, and a family who will continue to embrace his active outdoor adventures soul. Remy knows he was born to be a purse dog but he can also be an athletic pup who enjoys both worlds. Hiking, trails, power was, 5k's, fishing, car rides, agility, even swimming. What he does not care for is baths, sleeping in, or being treated like a princess dog. He seeks adventures, fun, love, and time to make a lifetime of memories with as many humans as possible. Remy is very food motivated as well. Remy knows all basic commands, walks great on leash, enjoys everyone's company as much as he is food motivated. Der kids preferred.

Remy is house and crate trained up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

Out of state adopters are welcome at the adopters expense. We do NOT ship a meet and greet is required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.

Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continue training is a must.

Additional adoption info

Completed applications MUST be Printed & Mailed via United States Postal Service. We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. Taking time out of their busy day to best help provide proper daily maintenance care for every dog and/or cat in our care until the best match with a happy forever adopter is made. Normally our adoption application processing review may take 2 to 3 weeks give or take. If you are seeking same-day adoptions then AHS may not be the best fit for your needs. We do not agree with impulse adoption. Adopting any pet is a decision that should not be taken lightly nor made impulsively.

We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.
