My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Elsie. I'm best known for my carefree, happy spirit and my BIG ears. I may be a senior but that doesn't mean I don't crave the love and attention and a family, just like the younger ones. I'm hoping the person reading this sees me for who I am and sees that I am worth giving a chance to. I know some people are hesitant of adopting a senior because they're afraid that their time with them will be short, but take it from us animals we will show you such love, dedication and appreciation for giving us a chance that it will be well worth your time. You will be changing our lives in a way that we've only dreamed about. Most people see us seniors and pass us over for the younger cute ones. Sure, we of course want them to have wonderful homes too but we ask people to also please open their hearts and consider loving us seniors, too. I overhear people who have cared and provided for us say that it has been one of the most rewarding experiences they've had. Would you please consider giving me a chance? I promise to provide you with unconditional love, steadfast companionship and a smile when you need one. I am affectionate, like being around people, not a fan of cats though, and I am getting used to being around other dogs but for the time being I prefer to be the one and only dog in the home. I am estimated to be around 10 years old, a good ol' mixed breed of sorts - maybe some terrier? I'm up to date with vaccinations, heart-worm negative, spayed and micro-chipped. Please, if interested, email adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org so we can get an application to you straightaway. Looking forward to hearing from you!! Love, Elsie

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
