My story

Meet Misty. In March of 2020 Misty's aging “mom” could no longer take care of her and so a member of the family took her in. It was thought to be temporary and that eventually she would reunite with her mom, but it became apparent that she really couldn't take care of Misty anymore. Although family has enjoyed living with her for the last couple of years, it was never intended to be a permanent situation. :(

Misty is a very sweet and pretty kitty. Although she isn't really a lap cat she does thoroughly enjoy a good pet session and will approach you several times a day and stare lovingly at you to get your attention. She also likes to play with cat toys, mostly chasing strings or laser dots. :)

At 17 years old, Misty does have a couple of health issues that are completely manageable. She receives medication daily for hyperthyroidism and IBD but both are delivered transdermally (through the skin on her ear - so easy!) and they seem to be treating her issues well. She also has been diagnosed with mild kidney failure, although she isn't showing any symptoms of it.

If you are a person who loves to be around your kitty and can appreciate a gentle, older girl, this sweetheart is for you!

Interested in meeting Misty? Contact Debbie at Jake’s Place: 415-548-0824 or email us at adoptions@jakesplacecatrescue.org.

Misty is considered a Courtesy Listing. We offer our services to help other responsible rescue groups or individuals find good homes for cats in need. We have screened and interviewed each of the individuals before agreeing to post their cats.

Why adoption is a great option

Misty, a Novato Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Novato, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Novato.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Novato already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Novato breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Novato paves the way for another one to be saved.
