My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

6 year old, 15lb Brent is a fun-loving, vocal, long-bodied lhasa apso or similar mix. Brent came to us in poor shape, and although he is technically a "special needs" dog due to his history, he has really blossomed into a healthy boy and should have a long life in his new loving home.

Not too long ago, he was skinny, matted, had skin/ear/eye infections, bad teeth, and a large ulcerated tumor. Further examination showed him to have a heart murmur and a large stone in his bladder. On day 1 with Canine Estates, Brent had multiple surgeries to start him on his road to health. He has recovered wonderfully and is such a sweet, spunky man. His tumor did end up being carcinoma but the vets and pathology reports indicated that it was completely removed, should not reoccur, and that he should live a long happy life in his fur-ever home. We removed his bladder stones and our vet does recommend him be on a special diet for life to prevent more stones from forming. His heart also does not require any medications for the moment and he is as active as can be for a normal dog of his still young age.

Brent loves attention, following his people around, calmly playing with other dogs, and begging for his favorite treats. He walks well on a leash and seems to be somewhat house-trained, barking at the door when he wants to go out, though he has had a couple accidents. He loves scratches and pets, but he is a little headshy and would prefer being pet anywhere away from his face. He is a naughty boy for the groomer and will need some patience and work with an experienced hand.

Brent likes other dogs and would likely be fine with cats, but has not been cat tested. Due to his headshy-ness we do not recommend a home with small children. He would be great in a home alone or with other animals, with or without a yard.
