My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Roscoe, a large shepherd mix who is 8 years old. He currently weighs 67 pounds. He came from animal control. When he was picked up he had massive hair loss due to being shaved and to allergies not being treated. Also he had severe infections in both ears and was underweight. After several months of care, healthy food and meds Roscoe's fur is coming back. There is one bald spot left under his neck. With his fur returning he has the cutest mutton chops (bush sideburns). He is blooming into a beautiful dog.

Roscoe will do well if his forever family or person were at home alot or could take Roscoe with them. He has separation anxiety. He will bark continuously with his Booming voice. He would do okay with another dog but Roscoe has a large, solid frame and can be a bulldozer (plays hard).

Roscoe is a sweet, loving dog who wants someone to be with him, to love and pet him. His favorite things are being petted and adored, meal times, treats and rides in the car. He rides in the backseat great but sometimes he likes to ride upfront.

Roscoe's needs include:
* Daily walks. He has high energy that needs to be walked.
* Forever Family or Person who will make Roscoe Family and make time for him.
* Fenced yard for play and bathroom needs
* To be only pet

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please read ALL the information below before completing the application. The ENTIRE application must be completed in order to be considered. Incomplete applications WILL NOT be reviewed or accepted.

The following guidelines have been established to speed up the adoption process.

To submit an application you need to either request one by email or obtain one you can fill out online at www.surryanimalrescue.org. It is essential that we have a name AND phone# of your Veterinarian that can verify that your current and/or past pets meet our policy requirements that are listed below.

In order to be considered to adopt one of our animals in our program; it is the policy of Surry Animal Rescue that your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on all vaccines including rabies, parvo, distemper, and are on a heartworm preventative. As well as your cats need to be spayed or neutered and current on all vaccines including rabies, distemper, feline leukemia, and feline aides test. We do REQUIRE fenced in yards for certain dogs in our program. That information is posted in the rescues' profile. All of our cats are to be kept indoors.

Finally, please include all questions and comments at the end of the application. A volunteer will contact you after they have reviewed your application. Please remember that we are a volunteer organization, so most of our volunteers have full time jobs, families, etc. and use their free time to check the emails and get your application. If you haven't heard from us within 4 days, please contact us through email surryanimalrescue@hotmail.com. We appreciate your patience.

More about this rescue

We are located in Mount Airy, NC. We are a very small volunteer organization and do not have a shelter. All of our rescues are in private foster homes and require schedule appointments with those foster families. We are a NC state certified non-profit and operate solely on donations. We DO accept out-of-state applications, but require the approved applicants to come to Mt. Airy, NC with any current dog(s) to meet the potential new family member. We do not ship our animals.
