Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $150.This covers spaying/neutering,shots,a heartworm test. This fee also might cover any illnesses or injuries animals may have suffered when entering into our system. We will pay for the heartworm treatment, when needed. Before adoption all animals are checked by the vet so we know a healthy animal will be going to it's new home.
Adopters must be permanent residents of the Jacksonville area. They must have a fenced yard and be able to provide a vet reference. When adopting a shelter pet, children in the family must be over six. The shelter dogs and cats are strays and we usually have no history on the animal. When we post animals for people who are trying to rehome their pets, there may not be an age requirement. The current owner can provide a history of the animal with children.

Go meet their pets

.We ask interested adopters to go to our site and view animals available. Then after doing an application and checking the vet reference and the home/yard we set up an appointment to bring the dog to the potential adopter. All our animals are on a trial period of at least two weeks in their new home before adoption is final.
We always have animals exercising and by not having people constantly walking through the shelter their routine is not interrupted.
We do not make our address publicly available as in the beginning we found kittens, puppies and cats in boxes at
our front gate.Dogs have been tied to our dumpster even.

More about this shelter

We are a no-kill shelter/sancuary.We have been in operation for 30 years.
We promote spaying/neutering.
When we can not accept an animal from an owner we offer free advertising as a means to get a forever home versus taking the animal to a kill shelter.
We sometimes help with medical bills for people who are unable to provide care.Example we spay/neuter for the elderly and people who are needing assistance.Sometime in certain cases we will help with vet bills if the animal is sick and the only alternative for the owner is relinquishing the animal to a kill shleter. We work closely with local vets.
In 2001 Pet Rescue North won The Most Humane Caregiver of Animals from the Jacksonville Humane Society.
We operate strictly on donations. And our workers are volunteers. We accept money and items needed to operate the shelter such as food and cleaning items
We have qualified for the Compaign Federal Campaign payroll deduction plan. Also the United Way write in payroll deduction plan.
