My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Three things to know up front:
Sadly, Shadow has been adopted and returned four times in her 3.5 years and has been in three different foster homes.
Despite her rough start, Shadow is a truly amazing and very soulful cat!
Shadow needs a human who finds her quirks endearing and is willing to give her a permanent, stable home for the first time in her life!
A short video of Shadow from a small kitten in 2019 to a beautiful and quirky tabby today:

A little about Shadow:
Her name is very fitting. Wherever you are, there she is! She's a lap cat to the extreme and will gently climb on you to watch TV or sleep (while making biscuits). If you close a door between the two of you, you will quickly hear her cries of injustice! She bonds with her person and needs a person worthy of her loyalty and love.
She likes plastic...like a lot. According to the vet, she doesn't have Pica (a medical condition), she's just a weirdo. You will need to keep plastic bags and wrappers out of her paw reach!
She is actually not a cat at all. She is a very intelligent, mischievous toddler. She can get very possessive of food, toys, and sometimes people. If she claims something you need (like a laundry basket full of clothes you need to fold), you have to show her who is boss and push her aside. She is all talk!
She is an alpha cat. Younger cats and kittens love her, but other adult cats tend to find her off-putting. She has no sense of personal space and likes to sneak attack at all the wrong moments. That being said, she is currently fostered with four other cats and they have learned to live in harmony over several months. She has also never met a human stranger, so if you like to have guests over, she would be the best co-host!
She has a suspected food sensitivity. She is currently on a hydrolyzed protein kibble to reduce GI upset. She tends to have soft poop though, regardless. Her person would need to maintain her diet or work with their vet to add in additional protein sources and monitor.
She would be the best companion and friend to someone who needs her!
Shadow is fostered in Huntsville, AL. She is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you'd like to meet Shadow, please submit a non-binding application at https://forrescue.net/cat-application/ and her foster mom will be in touch!
