My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Calling all dog savvy owners! If you love a dog with personality and character, this is the dog for you! If you know the most rewarding thing is to work with a dog who will become your loyal and trusting companion with love and positive reinforcement...we want to meet you.  Bonus points if you are active and have a compassionate heart!

Meet Tex, this handsome Southern boy had a rough start before he came into rescue. He isn't perfect, but no one is - and we love him even more for that! Tex is a great house dog, he is kennel and potty trained and is a pro at killing fluffy toys.  He can be a little intimidating when he feels threatened or scared but he redirects very well with calm and positive reinforcement training techniques.   Tex does best with calm, confident dogs.  No children for Tex please, he prefers the company of adults only.

Tex has a history that includes having suffered a terrible leg injury that required multiple surgeries, in addition to this he was also heartworm positive.  Tex is healed and healthy now, but he will never be your long-distance running partner.  Tex is more than ready to get ready living and enjoying life, he will make for a great companion with someone who is patient with strong dog handling experience. Tex is estimated to be 5 yrs old, he is around 60 lbs, and his DNA test says that he is a Bulldog/Terrier.

Tex's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that adopters have a demonstrated history with former/current pets that includes keeping them vaccinated, altered, on preventatives and kept as indoor pets only.  Our adoption process includes multiple meet and greets, a home visit, vet check and background check. Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.Adopthope.org
