Tommy was a stray and the vet estimates he is 10 years old but he doesn't act like it. He weighs 20 lbs. He loves to play fetch with toys and tug of war. He is one of my best fosters. He loves people and people easily fall in love with the little guy. He loves to sit next to you or on your lap. He doesn't have to be petted all the time. He is friendly and just wants to connect. He walks well on a leash and walks up and down stairs. He is crate and potty trained and has not had one accident in my house.  He gets along great with my dogs. I don't think Tommy has to be in a family with other dogs because his main thing is people. He knows how to sit and loves treats. With good nutrition and care I think his coat will be beautiful! As you can see from the photo Tommy has some scars on his face. We learned from a dermatologist that Tommy has DMS. DMS is not contagious. Anxiety and stress aggravate DMS so it is not surprising that he had a flare up given he was a stray on the streets, had a neuter and dental and was in a shelter. His flare up was treated and is under control.His DMS has not affected his muscles, just his skin around his eyes and nose and end of his tail. He probably will never have hair on the places around his eyes and on his nose. He is on twice daily medication, which costs about $12 a month. He will need to be on medication for the rest of his life and if there are flare ups of the DMS he would need to see a vet about how to get the flare up under control. Our dermatologist could be consulted about his care. There are drugs that can be used to treat future flare up. The Dr. thought he was doing well with DMS and that he has a mild case.
