My story

Estimated birth date: 6/1/2019

Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Chatty, Playful, Enjoys being held, Sweet

Favorite treats: Oxbow Hay biscuits, bell peppers

Favorite toys and activities: Moving her stuffed animals around, knocking over the hay bin

Potty trained: We're working on it!

This animal daily routine: Mafalda greets her foster parents every morning with happy wheeks, knowing that a breakfast of yummy oxbow pellets is soon to arrive. On weekends, Mafalda gets time outside her enclosure during the day; on week days, her playtime is in the evening. Dinner time comes in the evening with all of her fresh veggies.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Mafalda is bonded to her sisters Gnocchi and Penne!

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Cats- curious, investigative, eventually indifferent

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Mafalda has not been exposed to children in her foster home.

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: None

Other notes: Mafalda is the most outgoing of her sisters, and is not afraid to boss them around! She begs for attention and is always the first to greet you at the front of her cage. Mafalda is happy to receive pets and enjoys being held, though we're still working on her bravery with being picked up initially.

Penne, Mafalda, & Gnocchi made their way to MNPPR after their previous home became too busy to provide proper care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Mafalda’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Roseville PetSmart - 2480 Fairview Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Fee: Penne, Mafalda, & Gnocchi have a combined adoption fee of $55

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Why adoption is a great option

Mafalda, a St. Paul Guinea Pig other was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Guinea Pig for sale in St. Paul, or seeking a Guinea Pig other from a breeder in St. Paul.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Paul already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Paul breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Guinea Pig breeders who help with Guinea Pig rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Paul paves the way for another one to be saved.
