My story

INTAKE DATE - 10/18/2021 DOB - Approx Oct 2018 SEX - Neutered male SIZE - Normal breed standard MEDICAL STATUS - Healthy. Needs monthly vit B12 supplements for now. HOUSETRAINED - Yes CRATE TRAINED - Yes GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS - Yes GOOD WITH CATS - No GOOD WITH CHILDREN - No High energy, incredibly affectionate, incredibly devoted companion. WIlly does well with other dogs, has an extreme prey drive (no cats or other small animals), and has good house manners. Willy tolerates his crate, loves car rides, and has pretty decent leash manners. Because Willy lost part of his colon when he had his surgery, he will require monthly Vitamin B12 injections; they are both inexpensive and easy to administer. Willy is about 3 years old. He needs an adult only home (he's just way too excitable for children).January 25, 2023, 12:12 am

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

More about this rescue

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.
