My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 05/26/2010: My name is Milo! Now, I think that I am the handsomest Yorkie of them all! I'm a robust 15 lbs of love. I mean, why would anyone want a little teeny weeny yorkie when they can have me?? I'm much less fragile. I also don't have to run to keep up with you on your walks. I'm just a whole lotta yorkie-boy to love! OK, here's my story.....

I am 8-9 years old (but don't let age fool you... Yorkies live WELL into their teens. Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon). I also had a sad past. I used to flinch every time foster mommy tried to touch me. I didn't understand what it was like to be loved. I even get massages!!! My skin was yeasty and itchy when foster mommy picked me up from the shelter on December 26th. The vet put me on a prescription diet called Z/D. Foster mommy says it costs the same as the premium food she was feeding me anyway! I also get special shampoo once every couple of weeks for my baths. No more yeasty skin. You'd never know I was the same dog. Boy do I feel great. You know what would make me feel even better? A new FURever family. I'm housetrained, cute, love walks, am cute, loving, and cute! I really hope I find my FURever home soon. Lots of love! - Milo

UPDATED BIO 04-01-10: MILO is a very handsome 8-9 y/o 15# yorkie who is looking for his forever home; he is being fostered in Miramar, FL. Foster Mom reports that Milo is really loving life - and that he has really come out of his shell. He used to be so afraid every time someone would try to pet him, but he now knows that petting is a great thing - oh, and he also loves getting doggie massages! Milo's ears and skin are doing so much better now that he's been switched to a prescription doggie food - Milo is now eating green - a vegetarian diet! He really LOVES his new food, and so do his doggie buddies - but they only get to taste it because it's special, just like him. He's only been on the strictly vegetarian diet for a few weeks now, but he can feel the difference already and is not as itchy as he used to be. Milo loves taking walks - and loves just about everything else in his life right now. He doesn't pay much attention to other dogs or cats, so he would be okay as the only prince in the home, or he would also be okay with another dog close to his size and age. Foster Mom says nothing but really great things about Milo - he is housetrained and will let FM know when he has to go outside - how smart is that? So if anybody reading this wants a special pal to play with, or just mellow out, Milo is your man!

UPDATED BIO 01/25/10: MILO is a very handsome 8-9 y/o 15# yorkie who is looking for his forever home. His skin is continuing to heal from the awful yeast infection he came in with, and his ears are completely healed from the painful ear infections - thank goodness! Don't let Milo's age keep you from considering him - he loves to play and would make a perfect "buddy" for a special person. Milo gets along with other dogs, and if he doesn't feel like playing with them, he just ignores them. One of Milo's favorite things to do is to go with Foster Mom in the car - it doesn't even matter where she is going, he just loves to be with her on car rides and is very well-behaved. FM reports that Milo has the BEST manners - awwwww, what a sweet little boy! Milo likes to sleep with FM or will also sleep on a soft doggie bed right next to the bed. He loves to go on walks and walks perfectly on the leash. She says that he is such a joy to have around - aren't you looking for a little buddy like Milo?

UPDATED BIO 01/03/10: MILO is a very handsome 15# yorkie who needs to lose a couple of pounds to be at a healthier weight. Although the shelter felt that Milo was 6 y/o, he is closer to 8-9 years old. Because he had been so neglected for so long, his skin had a yeast infection that made it spotted and flakey, and his FM will be giving him regular baths with an RX shampoo which should clear this up quickly. Milo had a couple of fatty tumor lumbs on his head and stomach which are benign. He also had bilateral ear infections which were really painful - ouch! - and for that FM will be giving him special ear rinses and meds. FM Says that Mili sits very quietly while she tends to his ears - he is very sensitive about the pain since they were so badly infected, but he is a very good boy about letting her clean and medicate them - what a good boy! He will also need a dental as his teeth are soooo bad. FM says that, despite all his medical issues right now Milo is just a JOY to have in her home.........awwwwwwwwwwww! Won't you give Milo a chance at a happy life where he will be a cherished companion in your home?

INITIAL BIO 12/26/09: MEET MILO! He is a very handsome 6 y/o 15# yorkie who would be a much healthier weight if he lost 2-3#. Milo's owners must not have cared about him much since they didn't come to the shelter to pick him up. Thank Goodness, UYR was there on the day after Christmas to pick up this sweet boy. So far, he is very loving; and appears to get along with the other dogs in the home. He likes to hang out with Foster Mom and he's learning his way around his new Foster Home. Milo needs to see the vet about a couple of fatty tissue cysts on his head and back; he also has a horribly infected ear and FM is treating him for that. He will make a lovely companion for the right home - could that home be your's?
