My story

Meet Jezzy, our precious and affectionate Malinois mix who is approximately four years old. The first thing you need to know about Jezzy, she loves her people, even more than treats often. She seems to be more independent, so she should be the only dog in the house. She enjoys walks and she does very well on a gentle leader and has been trained with one to prevent pulling. She is the very first dog we hand over to volunteers because she's great and loving but she also really needs and deserves that time. She has done very well with our Kennel Manager's son who is 8 years old. She has started to ignore our shelter cat. She is ready to be in a home where she can bond with her human and show how good of a companion she can be. If you are interested in Jezzy, please fill out an application on our website or call us in the office Monday-Saturday between 10am-4pm to discuss her further.

Jezzy was diagnosed late last year with hip dysplasia. After many vet visits and therapy sessions, her veterinarian has decided that she doesn't need surgery at this time but might in the future. We are willing to lend a hand with the financial cost of this surgery with the help of two incredible donors. We also have a supporter who is willing to lend necessary supplies to help with recovery. She goes through daily, easy stretches with us here at HSAR and she enjoys the attention. She will not need rigorous activity, we really recommend light walking and limited running. She loves to play so short throws for fetch are okay but she shouldn't overdo it.
