My story

Courtesy Post:
Suki, a 4 yr old Catahoula/Staffordshire Terrier mix, was in the shelter for about 4-5 months before being rescued. That’s a longtime for a high energy dog like Suki, who had become stressed and reactive. When arriving at her training school, she wasn’t dog friendly at all and came with all her frustrations, having had no previous training whatsoever. She was horrible on leash and would rear up like a horse; but soon, Suki learned she was able run her frustrations out and the trainer’s pack helped Suki understand boundaries and how to be respectful to others.

Suki is a really good dog and needs to follow an adopter who is a firm and assertive pack leader. Like many young children who are still learning, Suki would try to take advantage of situations, so she needs reminders. One important developmental stage is self-control; Suki is working on her level of excitement and how to control it. She’s would do best in a home where her people have time for her, keeping her involved in the family dynamics, also providing the exercise and socialization she needs to remain a balanced dog. Suki is very pleasant to be around, she doesn’t “jump up on people” and is wonderful to play with, loves toys and balls, even letting the person take a ball from her without problem.

The trainer would be happy to coach an adopter along with Suki how to maintain a healthy relationship. Today, Suki has made leaps and bounds, progressing quickly as she learned to trust that her human would provide protection and balance. She is available in Anza for a meet and greet. If you are interested in Suki, contact AllStarFurPets@gmail.com for an application.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee depends on the dog you are adopting, since we are a senior and special needs rescue sometimes fees go's towards future vetting and such. There is an application to adopt and if that looks good we will schedule a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in, if this go's well we will do a home check upon which if both parties agree to the adoption and terms of an adoption contract will be required. We do require personal references as well as one from your Vet.

More about this rescue

I chose to do senior and special needs rescue because these types of dogs are often left behind and seldom get adopted from shelters, we also offer a forever foster program for some of Hank's Hounds where we supply the food and vetting for the rest of the senior's life as long as it is with our approved rescue vet.
