My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rudy is a magnificent young male Pit Bull Terrier/Shar-Pei mix who was surrendered by his owner on February 2, 2021. Rudy was one-year old at that time and has spent nearly half of his life in our shelter.

Rudy has a tan short smooth coat with a small patch of white on his chest, a long crooked tail, and an adorable face with a wrinkled brow (which he likely inherited from the Shar-Pei side of his family), expressive brown 'teddy bear' eyes, black shading on his muzzle, and short semi-erect ears.

His previous owner told us that Rudy had spent his days outdoors in his fenced-in yard or indoors confined to a crate. He was confined to an indoor crate during the night. Rudy's normal exercise routine was a run/long walk each day in addition to being a lap dog.

Rudy knows a few basic commands ('sit' and 'easy').

Rudy tends to be a little too rough with young children (because of his size and playful energy) .. And he doesn't realize that toys which belong to children aren't to be taken away from them for his own pleasure.

We don't know yet how Rudy feels about other dogs or cats, but he did seem a little too interested in cats during his photo session.

Rudy is housetrained but does have occasional accidents.

Rudy weighs approximately 95 lbs and is very strong on a leash, so he would do best with an experienced handler.

Rudy was neutered on February 9, 2021 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Rudy is merely a very large over-grown puppy and is full of youthful energy. He would love to find a home with a family or individual who has an active lifestyle and could give him the exercise and playtime that he loves so much!
