My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Remington has sights on your heart and she is ready to melt it, then steal it if you will let her.

Who is this good girl?
• Is she sweet? Yes! She likes people, including kids, other dogs and has even made friends with a cat.
• Is she big? No, not really. She is a nice medium-sized dog.
• What breed of dog is she? She is almost 50-50 Brittany Spaniel and German Shepherd dog.
• Is she busy? Yes! She needs guidance and structure to feel at ease (even something as simple as designated crate time), otherwise she will be seeking a 'job' and create one for herself
• Does she like to play? Yes! She has high toy drive and likes to play with her ball. She also likes to run around especially with other dogs, and she likes to be with her person.
• Is she athletic and fit? Yes! She is tremendously athletic and 'game' for anything. Although with minor joint irregularities showing up on x-rays during our regular medical screenings, this precluded her from having a career in Urban Search and Rescue work, due to the high impact nature of the job. Running, walking, swimming would be ideal exercise for her and she will crave a lot of it, as she is very energetic.
• Would she be good at dog sports? Yes! She should stay away from high impact sports that might include a lot of jumping, but she would be great at nosework, agility, obedience rally, etc.
• Where did she come from? Once upon a time, Oregon, where she was picked up as a stray, adopted out and then returned because of her toy drive. She came to us for Search Dog training and when she was released from our training, she went home to live with a local young family. A busy household and a move to Wyoming prompted them to realize Remington was not getting the attention she needed and deserved, so she went to stay with South Dakota Canine Center in Sturgis, where she has been frolicking with other dogs, refreshing her obedience skills and enjoying the structured environment. Remington is currently still in South Dakota.
• Is she trained? Yes! She has basic obedience skills, is VERY trainable, wants to please and thrives in a highly structured and well-managed environment. She is no couch potato, so she needs an active home willing to give her clear instructions on what is being asked of her whether play, work or free time.
• Do I need to be an experienced handler? No, not really, just willing to give Remington some structure and attention and willing to learn yourself. We offer training support and can help with this.
• Is she beautiful? Yes! Inside and out.

If you have the kind of heart that melts on contact with nice dogs with a hard luck story, you have been warned! She is such a nice girl that she will only steal it after she is done melting it and only if you say so.
