Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Courtesy Post** Roscoe is an adorable one and a half year old wire haired Jack Russell Terrier who is such a lover but is terribly misunderstood. Roscoe came to his home through a series of mysterious and somewhat unfortunate events and after a lot of time, patience and diligent assessments with trainers, behaviorists, and veterinary professionals it became clear that Roscoe’s current mommy, no matter how patient, loving and committed, is not Roscoe’s best fit. Roscoe is indeed a lover. But he is a fierce and loyal lover. Meaning he is best suited in a home where he is the star of the show. And gets all the love and attention. (He’s selfish like that) He needs to be an only dog! He’s a champion snuggler and can always be found right under foot. (Watch out he’s a lil guy!) He, at some point, picked up the bad habit of being fed people food, and his foster mom is working to break that habit so if you are in the kitchen, expect to have a shadow.
Roscoe is a sucker for a good toy. He loves a good squeaky toy to gently nibble on, or snuggle with and he’s in heaven with a heavy duty chew toy. Especially if it’s flavored! BarkBox spoiled him rotten!! Full disclosure: Roscoe has some challenges. At this point we are unsure if the root cause is abuse, inbreeding or a combination but whatever the reason it has resulted in poor Roscoe suffering from severe anxiety. Historically it has presented itself as resource guarding, seclusion, food refusal, teeth baring, nipping and playing possum. He is reactive to quick movements and doesn’t seem to take social cues from other dogs. I repeat...he needs to be an only dog! He will be much less anxious if he is “the only”. He is not the dog that is going to accompany you on outings, walks or social gatherings. He’s a one on one companion dog who needs to be at home with his owner. He will do well with a quiet home. For guests in the home, Roscoe would be best suited kenneled in a room out of the limelight. He isn’t a party animal. Roscoe is also on veterinary prescribed medication to regulate the anxiety. 10mg of amitriptyline twice a day. At this time, there is no indication that he can or should be taken off of this medication, unless his behavior stabilizes. That is where you come in. Roscoe needs a miracle. His current foster is trying to help but she knows his situation is not working for him. There are 2 other dogs. He’s young. And he has so much potential. But he is set up for failure without the correct and committed home. If you want to be that for him, fill out an application and reach out to Serina today. Roscoe is waiting for you. If you are interested please contact his owner at S.Garrett8404@hotmail.com and an adoption application will be emailed to you.
